Help Change for our Parks!!!!!!

Jul 29, 14 • Featured News, NewsNo Comments

The Community is having a workday this Saturday Aug 2, 2014        8 AM to 1 PM

We need to make our parks where our children can use them again.

If you care about your kids having a place to play – come join us.

We are selling chances on a shotgun.

Children are having a lemonade stand.

Kids are playing old fashion games such as sack races, soccer, hoola hoop contest, etc.

Men are repairing rotten boards & building bridges.

All material will be on site. Need volunteers to bring gloves, and cleaning supplies (to wash tables and swings).  Bring water hoses (with your name on them).  Will have hot dogs and cookies.  Bring a cooler with drinks and any other snacks you want.

Anyone wanting to make posters for the highway, please do so. But make sure when putting out, you have property owner’s permission and is NOT in the right of way. Please bring basic tools.

Let’s work together to help make our park safer for our kids! Hope to see you there!  Come build bridges with us & support YOUR community.

On Saturday, on Friday, May 2 at Brookshire’s in Van from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., BBB will host “Secure Your ID Days” – a free document shredding event that helps people protect themselves from identity theft.  –  businesses and individuals can shred up to three hundred (300) pounds of paper per vehicle at no charge.

Ark La Tex Shredding, STS Electronic Recycling and Allied Waste Systems are generously donating their shredding, data destruction and cardboard disposal services for the event.

According to Javelin Strategy and Research, the number of identity fraud victims rose to over 13.1 million people in 2013 and cost $18 billion dollars.

Don’t know what to shred and what to keep? Here’s a quick run-down:
* If you don’t need it, shred it – responsibly.
    * Keep bank statements, expired insurance policies, employment applications for three years.
   * Keep invoices, cancelled stock certificates, payroll records, withholding statements for seven years
    * Keep deeds, mortgages, tax returns, audit reports, insurance records, legal correspondence, property records permanently.

Businesses, do you know how to protect your customers’ data and privacy? Learn everything you need to know with BBB’s Data Security – Made Simpler

BBB hosts Secure Your ID Day in the Spring and in the Fall. At last year’s Spring event, 26 BBB’s shredded more than 320.9 tons of sensitive documents free of charge.
