TWC provides priority service to military veterans for all workforce services and assisted more then 132,437 veterans throughout the Texas Workforce System in 2013.  TWC sponsors several programs and initiatives aimed at helping return military veterans find employment opportunities in the civilian world, including Texas Veterans Leadership Program, State of Texas Soldier Employment Initiative, Skills for Veterans and the Hiring Red, White and You! statewide hiring events.

Celebrating 85 Years of Oil Rich History

A BIG celebration!!!!
Lots of Entertainment, activities, lots of FOOD, Games and Activities for all ages, Bucket Brigade, Texas Pistolaros, Wine Garden, Car Show, Trackless Train, Bounce House and Slide, Parade, Bloodmobile and lots more vendors,  all this happening on main street and in the First Baptist Church Parking lot.
Be sure to be prepared to get your favorite person ‘arrested’ by the Pistolaros Sheriff.  It will cost you $5 to have someone arrested and then $5 to get them out of the Pistolaros Jail.  Half of all these proceeds will go toward the Parks & Rec Chamber fund raiser.
You will be entertained by the Porter Sister from Mt Vernon Texas.  Fabulous duo that have music for all ages.   Mee Maw’s Misfits will line dance for you and also encourage the audience to join in the fun with them.  The Leopordette Legends will be back for a bit of entertainment for you.
The Texas Pistolaros will put on several shows during the course of the day beginning at 8 AM. 
You will be introduced to the new 2014 Van Oil Queen and her court.  There will be prizes for the 3 top float winners that depict the theme of 85 Years of Rich Oil History.  Lady and Gentleman of Yesteryear will be presented by the Van Oil Museum.  The Van Oil Museum will be open for tours from 10 to 3Van ISD Cheerleaders and Twirlers and Band will perform.  The annual Penny Toss for ages 3-8 and then Van ISD field events in the First Baptist parking lot will begin at 2:05 PM.  
The Chamber welcomes everyone to come and enjoy the day!!!
Coupe’s Cafe will have their monthly Car Show beginning at 5:30.  They will have the 50s, 60s, 70s entertainer Dale Cummings back again this month for entertainment beginning about 6:30.  Followed by a movie after dark in the parking lot.  Bring your chairs and enjoy the whole day and evening.!!!!
